Get in on the action of the World Series of Poker
The World Series of Poker is the top of the top for poker players. It is the epitome for poker playing: the best players in the world come together and battle it out for the top prize (ranging into the millions) for the world to watch, both on TV and on the Internet. There’s no more exciting a series for any fan of the game to watch than the World Series of Poker.
The series is held once a year in Las Vegas, the gambling capital of the world (as if they could ever rationalize holding it anywhere else). A series o’ tournaments, the series always culminates in the Main Event, a no-limit Texas Hold’Em tournament. The winner of the Main Event gets a multi-million dollar prize every year. The promise o’ such huge money typically draws in lotsa players.
But how do you qualify? It’s actually quite simple if you have lots o’ money kicking around: all you do is pay the $10,000 entry fee and you’re guaranteed a seat. But since most gamblers don’t have anything near than much, the path lies through participating in online tournaments and then the series o’ satellite tournaments that surround the event. There’s always a way into the World Series of Poker as long as you have the talent to compete with the best.
There are plenty o’ ways to get an eye on the action, too. Naturally most o’ the proceedings, along with all the games from the main event, make an appearance on TV. But not everybody receives these channels, so there are alternatives for the desperate viewer. There are lots o’ poker blogs out there that keep people up on the latest happenings, how favored players are doing and so forth. There are also some live feeds available online that can keep you centered on the action whenever you like, so long as you have a stable Internet connection.
